Анотація

The submitted paper deals with some advantages and disadvantages in foreign language education with implementation of new multimedia technologies, some prerequisites for successful using of new media in foreign teaching, the development of computer language learning and some aspects of multimedia presentations. The using of Internet carries great potential for educational process, specifically second language education. Multimedia technology provides many options of teaching making teaching interesting and productive, because it has capability to attract the language learners. At present great attention is concentrated on the issues of motivation in foreign language learning.

It should be noted that computers play the central role in this process, e.g. such computer applications as a browser, a word processor and software are very important. Audio and visual effects help transform learning into capacity cultivation and learn the language more quickly and effectively.

Nevertheless, the computer development may also turn the teachers into slaves of the multimedia technology and they will not be able to play the key role as a facilitator in foreign language learning. That is why teachers should understand that this technology has to be used as a supplementary instrument.

The interaction between a teacher and students should not be missed. If students only perceive the images and imaginations shown on the screen, their abstract thinking could be restricted and logical thinking could fade away.
