GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

Collection of scientific works "Scientific papers of Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University. Series: History” is included in category "B" list of professional publications in which the results of dissertations can be published. (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No.409 of March 17, 2020)

The journal is indexed in Index Copernicus and Google Scholar.

Frequency of journal's publication is 4 times a year (March, June, September, December).

Field and perspective: The journal highlights current issues of the history of Ukraine, world history, historical local lore, ethnology, historiography, source studies, theory and methodology of history, reviews the most modern monographs in the field of historical sciences.

Articles, bibliographic and source reviews, reviews of new publications in Ukrainian, Russian and English, which correspond to the publication profile and current state of science and have not been published before, are accepted for publication. The authors of the articles can be: doctors and candidates of science, young scientists (associate professors, graduate students, applicants) as well as other persons with higher education and engaged in scientific activities.

The editorial board of the journal does not consider descriptive and overview articles as well as those that are not of general interest and do not contain significant conclusions. Each article must be tested for plagiarism and reviewed by leading experts in the relevant scientific field. The publication is released with considering the dates of the article submission and completion of the review. Consequently the article may be recommended for publication, returned for revision, or rejected. No more than one article by one author can be published in one issue. The editorial board reserves the right to edit and shorten articles.

Presentation of an article must be concise and logical in compliance with the scientific style. The text must be proofread for spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors. At the end of the article the author expresses gratitude to individuals, institutions and organizations that contributed to the preparation of the article as well as indicates the sources of article funding (if it was carried out with grant funds). The author of the article is responsible for the accuracy of the material presented, for the ownership of the material, for the correct citation of sources and links to them. Articles, the design of which does not meet the specified requirements, will not be accepted for publication.  

Requirements for manuscripts:

  • Scientific articles, in accordance with the resolution of the Presidium of the High Attestation Commission of Ukraine № 705/1 of January 15, 2003 "On increasing the requirements for professional publications included in the lists of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine", must contain the following necessary elements:
  • general issue statement and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks (relevance of the research topic);
  • analysis of recent studies and publications, in which the solution of this problem has begun and on which the author relies, highlighting  previously unresolved parts of the general problem, which the article is devoted to;
  • formulation of article objectives ( task setting);
  • presentation of the main research material with full substantiation of the scientific results obtained;
  • findings of this study and perspectives of further research in the given direction.

Technical requirements:

Scientific articles should include: UDC (printed on the top left side in regular font);  the surname and initials of the author should be printed in bold italics after one interval in the middle; in the following lines should be indicated (in regular font) educational establishment or scientific institution where the author works; scientific degree and academic title (in case of absence - position), country (in parentheses); e-mail address;(e-mail); ORCID number http://orcid.org/);  Researcher ID number (http://www.researcherid.com/); Scopus-Author ID (if available, indexed publicaitons in Scopus should be listed). All data should be provided in nominative case. ORCID, Researcher ID  numbers and Scopus-Author ID are defined by the author. After a single space in the center should be the title of an article in bold; after 2 intervals symmetrically to the text in ordinary italics should be annotation (no less than 1800 symbols) and keywords in Ukrainian (or the language of the article) (4-7 words in alphabetical order); after that, after 2 intervals goes main text  (presented above structural elements must be highlighted in bold in the article text); at the end of the article after 2 intervals symmetrically to the text should be a heading “Sourses and literature:”, the list is formed in a column, in alphabetical order according to the sample below (a link to each item in the list is required; references to journal articles, articles by foreign authors, and articles with a DOI index are desirable); annotations are submitted after 2 intervals (no less than 1800 symbols each) and key words (4-7 words) in Russian and English (indicating the name and surname of the author (authors), institution, academic degree and academic title (if any), title of an article, translated annotation. The article ends with transliteration of the list of used sources and literature (References). Annotations are submitted in accordance with the requirements of scientometric databases as structured abstracts containing the following highlighted elements: purpose of the work, methodology, scientific novelty, conclusions. Annotations of reviews are submitted in the usual form. The abstract is presented in one paragraph with width alignment. We draw your attention to the proper level of English-language annotation or article in English. Materials with a low level of English translation will not be considered and the editorial board will not do any correspondence with its author.

- volume of author's manuscripts: articles - 12-24 pages (20-40 thousand characters); reviews - up to 4 pages;

- A4 sheet format; all margins are 2 cm; Times New Roman font, font size -14 pt, style "normal" ("regular"); line spacing - 1.5; paragraph indent - 1 cm (in automatic mode); text printing without hyphenation, aligning to the width of the sheet;

- References to literature in the text are given in the form [Merinov, 2015: 62]. (The first part is a  corresponding work from the list of references, two dots is the page to which the author refers). The links to the archives in the text are done in the form [DAViO. FP-29. Op.1. Ref. 32. Ark.13]. (The decoding of the archive abbreviation is carried out in the bibliography in alphabetical order). Links to several sources are submitted simultaneously as follows: [Merinov, 2015: 62; Starodubets 2013: 52]. Spaces in parentheses must be non-breaking (Shift + Ctrl + Space). Author's notes are made at the end of the pages using the symbol * as a footnote; 

- the list of used sources and literature "Sources and Literature" is submitted at the end of the article (font size - 14, 1.5 interval) in alphabetical order in accordance with the standards of bibliographic description. Bibliographic descriptions of sources must necessarily contain the names and initials of the authors, the titles of their works, city (in full), year of publication, publisher, number of pages of publication. 

- Mandatory distinction between dash (-) and hyphen (-), use of quotes in this format - "" ("text") abbreviation like so on, etc., initials with surnames (for example, I. I. Ivanov), page references (p. 34), names of localities (Kiev), yy. - years, in front of square or round parentheses, as well as in them - print through an unbreakable indentation (simultaneously pressing Ctrl + Shift + space). For prevention use the "Non-printable characters" function; remove hyperlinks from the list of references.

– each abbreviation (or reduction) should be entered in text in parentheses after the first mention of the corresponding full phrase and only then it can be used;

- to give references to all tables and figures in the text of an article;

- all tables must have headings (above the table, a separate paragraph of text, without indentation, bold);

- drawings must be accompanied by captions (under the picture, a separate paragraph, bold, centered, without indentation; signature must not be an element of the picture); number pictures in the order of references in the text.

- put only one space between words;

dates should be separated by dashes with spaces. Before abbreviations y., yy., p. insert a non-breaking space. If dates are given in parentheses, then "yy." DO NOT write (in 1861, 1945 - 1947 (1945 - 1947), XV - XVIII centuries). In combinations to define decades between dates put a dash with spaces in the 40s - 50s, 1940s - 60s. Years that do not coincide with calendar years must be separated by a slash (1997/98 academic year; 2012/13 budget year);

- time and number intervals should be separated by dashes without spaces (July - August; 36-44)

- in digital data that include more than five digits, put an inseparable space after every three digits (13,255; 457,357; 46,532.5 kg.);

- According to new rules, which take into account the requirements of international citation systems, authors must submit a list of references in two variants: one - the original language, and, as a separate block, the same list of references (References) in Roman alphabet, listing in alphabetical order all literature items. regardless of whether  there are foreign ones among them. The titles of the works are duplicated in square brackets in English. In this case the titles of works are duplicated in square brackets in English. The titles of periodicals are also translated into English. The language of the publication is indicated at the end of each position in square brackets.

- After automatic transliteration it is necessary to check the correctness of the result and make  necessary adjustments. The titles of periodicals (journals) should be submitted in accordance with the official Latin spelling of the ISSN registration number, which can be easily found on the journal's website or in any scientific online database.

Materials submitted without complying with these requirements are returned to the author without consideration.

TERMS OF PAYMENT

Authors of accepted papers of standard length (12-14 pages ) are required to pay a publication fee of 70 UAH ($2.5) per page. The bill is sent to authors whose articles have received positive reviews and recommended for publication.

PROCEDURE FOR MATERIALS SUBMISSION

To publish an article you must send the following materials (files) by e-mail:

1) an article drawn up in accordance with the specified requirements;

2) information about the author: surname, name, patronymic; academic degree, academic title, position, place of work, postal address, e-mail and contact phone number;

3) scanned review recommendation of the scientific advisor, certified by the seal of the institution, where he works (for graduate students and researchers who do not have a scientific degree).

Publication of an  article in the collection provides for the automatic consent of the author to place its electronic version in scientometric and scientific databases, open access resources, on the Internet.
