ТВОРЧІСТЬ КАТЕРИНИ ВАСИЛІВНИ БІЛОКУР ЯК ФЕНОМЕН УКРАЇНСЬКОГО НАРОДНОГО МИСТЕЦТВА

Abstract

The article examines the work of Kateryna Vasylivna Bilokur (1900-1961) as a unique phenomenon of Ukrainian folk art. The key stages of her life and creative path, which was formed outside the boundaries of academic education, through self-education and experiments with materials (making her own brushes and paints from plant pigments), are analyzed. The main periods of creativity (early, mature, late) are distinguished and the characteristic features of the mature period are determined, in particular, virtuoso detailing, multi-layered colorism and synthesis of realism and decorativeness. The themes and genre originality of the works are revealed, where nature, and especially flowers, appear as a metaphor for the spiritual world of man, vitality and Ukrainian national identity. The world recognition of K. Bilokur’s work is emphasized. The significant influence of the artist on the development of Ukrainian art and her role in the formation of national identity is substantiated.
