The article explores the functional-semantic role of mandalas and ornaments in the decorative art of India. The historical origins, classification of ornaments, symbolism of mandalas, lotus and other plant motifs, as well as their modern use in art, design and psychotherapeutic practices are analyzed. It is noted that ornaments and mandalas simultaneously perform aesthetic, sacred and psychological functions, forming a kind of cultural code of India.References
