Abstract
The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of neologisms that emerge and actively function in aviation terminology under the influence of rapid technological development and current socio-political events. The relevance of the study is due to the dynamic nature of the aviation industry, where the constant introduction of the latest materials, aerodynamic solutions, automation systems, unmanned technologies and environmentally friendly propulsion systems inevitably leads to the emergence of new concepts and phenomena that require adequate linguistic design. The absence or inaccuracy of terminology can significantly complicate communication between specialists, slow down scientific and technological progress and create risks in the field of flight safety. The article analyses the main sources of replenishment of aviation vocabulary with neologisms. Particular attention is paid to the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on the formation of new terms in the military aviation sector. A number of neologisms reflecting new types of weapons, names of specific unmanned aerial vehicles, terms related to air defence, as well as metaphorical and colloquial names of military equipment and actions are analysed. A review of the latest scientific publications and research in the field of aviation terminology is carried out. The main areas of research related to the issues of standardisation, translation, formation and functioning of aviation vocabulary are identified. Neologisms are an integral part of the development of aviation terminology, reflecting technological innovations and socio-political realities. The article emphasises the important role of specialised educational and scientific institutions, in particular the National Aviation University (NAU) and the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub (KNUAF), in the research and standardisation of aviation terminology.Downloads
