Syntaxic Expressems in the Story «Vertep» by Arkady Lyubchenko

Abstract

The study of а writer’s creative language has not lost its relevance since the first attempts of man to decode the author’s intentions, to comprehend the peculiarities of individual artistic and aesthetic modeling of the world. The syntactic organization of a literary text is one of the components of individual authorial expressiveness. The theoretical foundations of the study of the lingvostylistic category of expressiveness are outlined in the works of N. Huyvanyuk, S. Yermolenko, A. Zagnitko, L. Matsko, A. Moisienko, V. Chabanenko and other linguists. The texts of A. Lyubchenko have repeatedly attracted the attention of linguists and have become the object of scientific research by A. Agafonova, Yu. Kalashnyk, N. Ladynyak, I. Marinenko and others. The purpose of the article is to identify and analyze the dominant means of expressive syntax in a story «Vertep» by A. Lyubchenko, to outline their role in modeling the author’s picture of the world. Results. The «Vertep» is a lyrical story consisting of 11 short stories in which the author presents his own reflections and philosophical generalizations regarding the course of social processes in Ukraine in the 1920s. Each of the short stories has its own composition, special rhythm, but their integral parameter is the systematic use of repetitions that verbalize the author’s intentions. One of the most common syntactic means of creating expression in the story «Vertep» by A. Lyubchenko is repetition - a stylistic figure that involves the repeated repetition of words, phrases, and sentences in order to emphasize the language and enhance its expressive and pictorial properties. In the analyzed short stories, repetition serves the function of strengthening, highlighting key components of the content, verbalization of authorial intentions, highlighting key content components. Repetitions provide a constant connection with the imaginary reader, activating his attention and imagination. A productive means of organizing the text of the story «Vertep» is parceled constructions, which are one of the defining features of the artist’s individual style. Conclusion. So, syntactic expressemes, such as repetition, parceled and inserted constructions, ensure the effectiveness of the author's communicative influence on the reader, help to decode hidden meanings, and understand the features of A. Lyubchenko’s individual style.
