Formation of basic financial literacy оf primary school children at mathematics lessons

The article is devoted to the description of peculiarities of the development of basic financial literacy of primary school children at mathematics lessons. In particular, the key aspects of the formation of financial literacy of children at the mathematics course and «I explore the world» are revealed. The results of studying the basics of financial literacy in primary school through personal results, meta-subject and subject results are presented.Examples of implementing key aspects of developing children‟ financial literacy in each grade of primary school are provided.It was found that in order to effectively promote the development of financial literacy of primary school children at mathematics lessons, it is advisable to rely on conditions: comprehensive familiarization of students with the concepts of the financial sphere; cooperation between the family and school and extracurricular educational institutions in financial issues; use of extracurricular activities to expand and deepen students‟ financial knowledge; use of information technologies through teaching financial literacy.It has been established that the formation and development of children‟s financial literacy is a continuous process. The school‟s work in this direction should be integrated with the activities of the family. The family plays a key role in the formation of financial literacy of primary school children through the following tasks: weekly budget planning, family shopping, weekly child‟s expenses at school, calculating the change in the store, distributing a certain amount of money among family members.The article describes educational computer, online programs, and online quests that can be used to develop students‟ financial literacy: the online quiz «Financial Football», the purpose of which is to answer questions related to finances; the quest game «Financial Everyday Life»; the board games «Financial Crocodile», «Monopoly».References
