Abstract

Tomorrow will be different and those succeeding in the new millennium will have developed
new work habits for a radically changing world, inventing many different approaches and solutions
for thriving and surviving. Therefore, we need to be prepared for the enormous transformations that
will take place in our social, political, economic, and educational structures. Prepared for the
emergence of areas of information, expertise, skill, and knowledge that we can hardly imagine
today. Prepared in brief, for almost anything and willing to give up some of the attitudes and
postures that have characterized our thinking, informed our education, and been the basis of much
of our training. The most important factors in economic competition today are: the availability of
ideas, most notably sophisticated research and development; the availability of a trained and
capable workforce; a stable government that encourages and protects productive enterprise; and
organizations that are designed to adapt.
