THE USE OF SMART-DEVICES IN ESP LEARNING AND TEACHING

Abstract

This article is an attempt to prove the benefits of SMART devices practical use in the process of learning a foreign language, which significantly improve the quality of educational material presentation and the effectiveness of its assimilation by students; enrich the educational process; increase motivation to learn languages; create conditions for closer cooperation between teachers and students; add variety to homework and independent work of students, and thus create new conditions for self-education and individual learning trajectory. Smart technologies remove the limitations of traditional methods, taking learning and teaching beyond the classroom. The use of SMART-technologies in the practical activities of students in ESP classes contributes to: the development of all language skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening; improving communication skills; adaptation of foreign language learners to international testing (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.); development of critical thinking. For representatives of the pedagogical profession SMART-technologies help: to increase their own professionalism in the transfer of knowledge, and their own communicative level from sufficient to high; prepare for classes with little time, but more efficiency to ensure the cognitive interest of students; to improve the quality of tutoring skills and abilities of foreign language learners in various professional fields. Due to the capabilities of smart-technologies, the teacher can use both the proposed program resources and create exciting tasks of different types (individual and group), different levels of complexity for students of different levels of training, different professional orientation and more. Therefore, the use of SMART devices in the process of learning a foreign language allows you to make a radically new in the traditional forms of teacher’s work, contributes to interesting and complete, comprehensive disclosure, clearer presentation of even very complex educational material, and thus significantly reduces learning time.
