Abstract

Partnership of Ukraine and NATO puts forward the demands of providing interoperable language
preparation of servicemen and women of Ukrainian Armed Forces and armed forces of NATO members and partners.
Teachers of foreign languages of higher military educational establishments of Ukraine work on improvement of language
training aiming at mastering standard language level CMR-2 (which equals STANAG 6001 Level 2) by future officers for
their successful carrying out of professional duties in a foreign environment.
Authors of the article identify motivation of students as one of the principle factors influencing success in
language learning and in achieving necessary language level for every day and professional activities. The problem of
motivating students who have former negative experience in language learning and are discouraged to carry out further
learning activities at English lessons appears particularly acute.
Information and communicative technologies appear as a motivating factor in language learning since they
approximate a learning classroom to the environment where cadets feel comfortable doing their everyday activities by
using digital gadgets.
The article outlines the extent of influence of information and communicative technologies on raising the level of
motivation to foreign language learning in higher military educational establishments through the example of Hetman
Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy.  The authors present the experience of implementation of information and communicative technologies as
exemplified in different topics and technologies including searching websites, using on-line dictionaries, watching and
shooting video clips, recording conversations and videos as well as using mobile applications like Telegram or Viber while
studying general English and military topics.
