THE USE OF MS EXCEL SPREADSHEET IN TEACHING OF SUBJECTS OF PROFESSIONAL DIRECTION IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF ECONOMICS

Ms Excel is one of the most popular programs in the Windows operating environment. This
spreadsheet editor combines graphic and text editor capabilities. It also has strong mathematical support.
The article substantiates the expediency of using MS EXCEL spreadsheet during the whole period of training of
future specialists in higher educational institutions of economics. Here are the examples of such applications when
teaching of the disciplines "Theory of probability and mathematical statistics", "Forecasting of social and economic
processes", "Economic and mathematical modeling", "Riskology", "Financial mathematics", "System analysis",
"Econometrics". It has been proved that the use of EXCEL promotes better learning of material by the students, allows to
accelerate and deepen its study, focusing on the essence of the concepts studied, but not abstract themselves from
auxiliary calculations. It describes what methodical developments (tutorial on probability theory and mathematical
statistics, methodological recommendations for practical work in financial mathematics, economic-mathematical
modeling, econometrics) are used by teachers of the Department of Economic Cybernetics and Information Systems of
VITE KNUTE when teaching of subjects of professional direction in HEI of Economics. It is concluded that computer
technologies (including EXCEL spreadsheet) should be systematically applied in teaching of these disciplines to future
specialists in economics. A systematic approach to using an Excel spreadsheet in the following cases is suggested.
