PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF IT MANAGERS IN THE USA

Abstract

In the article, internal and external factors of specialists’ competitive ability are considered, and the
trends in the modern society development influencing on them are outlined. Common requirements of the labor
market for IT managers in general and IT managers in particular are highlighted. The skills and knowledge that IT
managers are expected to have are detailed. The psychological and pedagogical fundamentals required for effective
professional training of future IT management specialists are specified and justified with regard to the multiple nature
of this field. By examples of curricula of the U.S. higher educational institutions, the expediency of including in them the
disciplines aimed at development of students’ self-education skills and positive personal qualities as well as creation of
favorable psychological and pedagogical conditions for this development is proved. The importance of further study of
IT management specifics, the optimal psychological and pedagogical conditions that high-quality professional training
of IT managers requires, and expansion of existing IT management curricula of Ukraine’s higher educational
institutions with due regard to the U.S. experience is emphasized.
