MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS WHEN LEARNING BY LISTENING TO LECTURES BY SPECIALTY AT THE PRE-UNIVERSITY STAGE

Abstract

The article deals with methodical bases of using multimedia presentations during the listening of
specialty lectures by foreign students at the pre-university stage of education. Educational lecture is one of the
principal forms of organization of an educational process and introducing new information at the main faculties of a
higher educational institution. Conscious perception of a foreign speech aurally, definition and recording of the main information and its further production are incredibly complicated for foreign students. Techer’s task at the pre-
university stage of education is to help students to master skills and abilities mentioned above, to prepare them for listening of specialty lectures. At the main faculties, lectures have a syncretic character: teacher’s narration is
supported by multimedia presentation. Therefore, visual and aural perception are combined, which undoubtedly leads to better understanding and memorizing of educational material. To prepare students for such format of lectures, it
was created an accompanying multimedia presentations course for educational and test lectures. The description of
the present course formed the basis of the article. Generally the described course consists of 12 multimedia
presentations, created in Microsoft PowerPoint program. Multimedia presentations were made in one format and
have common principles of design and configuration of educational materials. Using of multimedia support allows to
visualize complicated medical and biological notions, graphically demonstrate processes and phenomena, which are
depicted in the article.
