Student-centered approach to the educational process in the general education of undergraduate students in the USA
on the basis of its humanistic orientation is highlighted in the article. It is indicated that student-centered instruction requires
students’ responsibility for the acquired knowledge and gained experience. In this way students become active agents of the
educational process adjusting it and realizing the goals and outcomes of learning and development they are expected to
achieve. The main forms and methods of practical implementation of student-centered instruction in the US higher education
as a condition of students’ liberal culture shaping are determined.
