INDEPENDENT STUDY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS AN ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL TRAINING OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

The article considers the main point of English language self-studying as a component of general
training for cadets of High Military Educational Institution. Impossibility to improve the level of knowledge of a foreign
language without properly selected methodological tools, without the use of textbooks, tutorials, dictionaries, audio
and video materials and sites for independent learning of the English were revealed.
General recommendations for the organization of self-studying, as well as methodological recommendations
for studying and memorizing linguistic material, independent study of lexical material, independent work with the
dictionary, reading English words and texts, memorizing English words and expressions, listening and working with
audiobooks, speaking and letters will help cadets to learn the correct pronunciation and reading in English, productive
active and passive learning of lexical material, study with educational materials and equipment (dictionaries and
reference books in English), oral monologue on everyday topics and writing.
Step-by-step stages of improving the level of language knowledge, the types of information perception, the
level of foreign language proficiency and ways to verify the study course are suggested.
