CHILDREN AND THE INTERNET: SOME PROBLEMS AND THE WAYS TO SOLVE THEM

Abstract

Abstract.The informatization and globalization of the modern society are extremely intense. Currently we no
longer imagine our lives without a continuous flow of information through the World Wide Web, which, in addition to
the information component, satisfies our communicative needs, bringing people much closer. Computers, tablets,
smartphones are not uncommon devices, and their purpose has evolved from the means of entertainment into the
means of communication, self-development, self-improvement of personality. Yearly, the number of users on the web
grows steadily and it is commonplace for a three-year-old kid to easily find their favorite cartoons on YouTube, and a
first-former to find the information they need on Google.
However, one should not forget about the dangers of the Internet, especially for our children and adolescents,
who, through their youth and lack of experience, are trapped by Internet scammers, online hunters and more. In
addition, online gaming, online shopping and online communication create a fairly high likelihood of an emerging
Internet addiction generation.
The article discusses the problem of the relationship between children and the Internet, analyzes the dangers
of uncontrolled usage of children on the World Wide Web, provides recommendations for parental control over the
presence of children on the Internet, and emphasizes the need to eliminate computer illiteracy among parents.
