The article states that, to a large extent, the mission of preparing school youth and students for
life activities in difficult conditions of emergency situations, in particular during martial law, is entrusted
to teachers. It is they who need to teach all educational process participants how to act in certain extreme
situations. It is noted that COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the entire world, has created an
emergency situation for all sections of the globe’s population. Teachers also had to rebuild the
educational process and teach students to study in new conditions when there are threats to their lives and
health. It is indicated that the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine on February 24,
2022 is an emergency situation of a military nature, which caused the emergence of extreme situations
throughout the territory of our state. The need for the formation of future teachers of extreme competence
and the safe behavior culture of all educational process participants in in emergency situations is
indicated. The skills necessary for teachers to organize the educational process in emergency conditions,
in particular when there is a threat of extreme situations have been determined. Soft skills which are
necessary for teachers to organize the educational process in emergency conditions include the following
items: psychological self-regulation skills, leadership skills, critical thinking skills, empathy skills,
extreme situations risk and threat assessment skills, skills suggestive influence on students, skills of clear
and strict control over students’ behavior in extreme situations, conflict-free communication skills,
psychological and emergency pre-medical assistance skills. It was concluded that there is a current
necessity to study the European countries’ experience, which in the recent past had to organize the
educational process in conditions of martial law or active confrontation on border (disputed) territories, as
well as during post-war reconstruction.
